PAPHOS - TOP 5 REASONS TO VISIT

Paphos Blog

Paphos is a beautiful city located on the southwest coastline of Cyprus. It is known for its baking heat, unique geography, archaeological sites and beautiful coastlines amongst many other attractions. If you are looking for a holiday which is more than just sunny beaches, then this is the place for you! In this blog, I will highlight my top five favourite reasons to visit Paphos!

Cat sanctuary (Tala Monastery cat park)

Are you a lover of cats? If so, then this is the holy grail for cat lovers! Paphos has many stray cats which are at risk to disease, abuse or danger. This cat sanctuary rescues vulnerable cats by taking them in and caring for them. It is founded and run by volunteers who actively feed, treat and care for the +700 cats. You are able to come and visit these cats with many of them being very friendly!  It is free to visit with the incentive for a donation which is up to yourself! If you want to visit from the Paphos Harbour area there are a couple options. You can rent a car - driving there, get the bus or lastly get a taxi. We went by bus which required two separate bus trips. You can get the bus from the harbour (bus 618) to the Karvella bus station (the main bus station) and secondly the bus route 604 to the last stop. All together this takes around 30 minutes. Baths of Aphrodite’s

Baths Paphos

A beautiful and niche place to visit is the Baths of Aphrodite’s closely situated near the Akamas Peninsula. This beautiful bath is overlooked by an ancient fig tree, stunning lush greenery and these days, lots of tourists… However, it is definitely worth a visit and makes for a wonderful picture opportunity. To get there you can rent a car and drive there or alternatively get there by jeep in one of the trip package deals. It is free to enter and is a nice hidden spot.

Blue Lagoon

how to get to Blue Lagoon Paphos

The Blue Lagoon is situated in the Akamas national park of Paphos. It features majestic turquoise water that is clean, warm and beautiful. This makes it a delightful place to visit in the summer heat. Getting to the Blue Lagoon is not suitable for lower cars, so getting there by a 4x4 or boat is the best option. Prices vary for this trip and can be checked online for booking options on Trip Advisor.

Seafood

Checking out the fresh seafood is a must-do if you enjoy seafood cuisine. The best place to get seafood is down by the Harbour on the front. All the food is lovely and fresh making it remarkably tasty. There is a variety of seafood types to try and with the stunning harbour views, this is a wonderful lunch or dinner option.

Pafos Zoo

Pafos Zoo

The Pafos Zoo is the largest licensed Zoo in all of Cyprus. It is set in a natural and open environment with an array of birds, mammals and reptiles.
