BELFAST - TOP 5 REASONS TO VISIT

Top 5 Reasons to visit Belfast

Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and is a truly remarkable city. It is associated as being the birthplace of the famous Titanic. However, it holds so much more with a diverse range of day trips and activities. It features remarkable geography, architecture and culture. This makes it one of the top destinations to visit in all of Europe. Here are my top 5 reasons to visit Belfast!

Trip to the Giants Causeway

The Giants Causeway Panorama

Whilst this day trip is not in Belfast, it is a trip that is easily accessible.  The Giants Causeway is located on the coastline about 3 miles northeast of the town of Bushmills. It is a massive area of land consisting of around 40,000 basalt columns. It was formed from volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago, creating the famous hexagon faced pillars we all recognise today. It stands as a World Heritage Site and for good reason. It offers some of the most unique and astonishing geography in the world. The price of tickets for entering the Giants Causeway is £11 when purchased online for an adult ticket. There are also a variety of ways to get here from Belfast including bus, train, park & ride and many others! Click here to see the travel options: here

 Rope Bridge (Carrick-a-Rede)

Another fun day trip to do when you’re in Belfast is to visit is the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. This bridge is located near Ballintoy and is a real hidden gem. This bridge sways gently above some unexpected, incredible turquoise water. It was erected in 2008 and is suspended 30 metres above the chilly waters. It offers amazing scenery which overlooks onto Scotland and Rathlin Island. If you are scared of heights however then give this a MISS and if you do give it a go do not look down! The trip is accessible by train, bus and car with prices highlighted in the link here.

Titanic Quarter

The Titanic Belfast tourist destination is one of the largest visitor attractions in the UK. This is the birthplace of the famous RMS Titanic which was launched over a hundred years ago. This ship was a passenger liner that demised in 1912 by striking an Iceberg. At the time it was the largest passenger liner in the world at a mammoth 269 metres in length. Today the Titanic Belfast destination will give you an insight into the dark history of the ship and showcase a host of exhibits. The exhibit also demonstrates the extensive labour and brains it took to construct the ship. This is a must see if you are interested in history. It costs a reasonable £19 for an adult ticket.
