PARIS - TOP 5 REASONS TO VISIT

Paris - Top 5 Reasons to Visit

Looking for places to go?

Paris is one of the most beautiful and famous cities in all of Europe. It’s a global hub for fashion, art, culture and tourism. It is renowned for being ‘the city of love’ with its beautiful landmarks, delightful food and vibrant culture.

It is an expensive holiday, especially including the daily spending costs, however you can find cheap flights and accommodation packages. Companies like Expedia and Jet2Holidays.com are great for combined packages. Ryan Air also offers extremely cheap flights at certain times of the year which work well.

In this blog, I will explore the top 5 reasons to visit Paris and how to budget!

  World Famous landmarks

What makes Paris so unique and wonderful stems from its landmarks. Without a doubt, the most impressive landmark has to be the Eiffel Tower. This architectural masterpiece was built in 1889 becoming the tallest man-made structure at the time. It stands at 324 metres and height, offering a remarkably impressive view. The adult prices range from around £18 to £23. This is an absolute must-do as it provides a panoramic view of the city that is truly unforgettable.

The Notre Dame is another landmark that is astonishing. However, with the recent fires it has taken severe damage and is currently under reconstruction. This means it is covered in scaffolding hiding the building.

The other main landmark has to be the Arc de Triomphe. This famous monument overlooks the Champs-Elysees with 284 steps to the top. If you want to go to the top it costs around about £10 for an adult ticket. With the Eiffel tower providing a much more impressive view this is an activity that is not worth the price tag.

Scenic Boat Trip πŸ›₯

A brilliant way to absorb and take in the amazing scenery is to take the sight-seeing cruise along the Seine River. This will allow you to see the Eiffel tower, famous bridges, the Notre Dame and pulsing city life. You can purchase a ticket for as little as £12 and a key tip is to take the trip in the evening around sunset. This time can offer an amazing sunset which compliments the scenery magically.

The Food

Macaroons from Paris
Macaroon city

The types of French food are vast, so I will choose my favourite types I encountered during my visit. Firstly, I will start with the macaroons. These are located at stalls, small local shops and premium patisserie boutiques. They are available in a spectrum of colour and flavours standing out from a mile away. They taste amazing and are cheap creating a win-win situation! Another food you cannot miss has to be the crepes. These are sold in stalls all around the city coming in a variety of types. They provide the perfect snack and keep you full whilst you explore.

Disneyland

Disneyland appeals to a variety of age ranges with its live characters, in action live shows and roller coasters. To get to Disney land from the city centre you can take the RER A train to the Marne-la-ValleΓ© - Chessy stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the park gates. A one-day adult ticket costs in the region of £80 which is expensive. It does, however, provide a full day of activities and offers a lot of fun. Click here to get directions to Disney land.

The rollercoasters are impressive. Despite the common +2 hour waiting time, going on the Star Wars HyperSpace Mountain rollercoaster is definitely worth it. This rollercoaster provides an inside thrilling experience that is sure to make anyone scared! If you are going at a busy time of the week or year do be prepared for gigantic cues on all the rides though.

City Atmosphere

What makes Paris stand out from other cities is its phenomenal atmosphere. It is the street dancers, performers and buzzing food stalls which create this buzz. The performers were exceptionally talented, and you could spend hours watching entertainment that is available to anyone! This makes Paris a city that has surprises around every corner and a real reason to visit.
